Before you start: four keys for three days in Andorra

What you need to know to make the most of your three days.

One area each day

The center, Canillo and Encamp, and Ordino or Sant Julià: this way you don't waste hours on the road.

A single base

Without a car, sleep in Andorra la Vella or Escaldes: buses to all areas depart from there.

Book three things in advance

The hotel, Caldea and, outside of snow season, the Tibetan Bridge.

In winter, the plan changes

With snow, the Tibetan Bridge closes and snowshoes, snowmobiling, or a day of skiing come into play.

THE 3-DAY PLAN

Discover what to see and do each day, with a route that combines Andorra's essential sights and plans for all tastes.

DAY 1 · ANDORRA LA VELLA AND ESCALDES

Day 1: Andorra la Vella, Caldea and shopping

Start with the Old Quarter: the Casa de la Vall, former seat of the Consell General, and the surrounding cobblestone streets. Eat in the center and leave the afternoon for Caldea, in Escaldes-Engordany, or for shopping on Meritxell Avenue.

DAY 2 · CANILLO AND ENCAMP

Day 2: Tibetan Bridge, Roc del Quer and Meritxell

Head up to Canillo in the morning: the Tibetan Bridge and the Roc del Quer viewpoint come as a single package. Descending towards Encamp, stop at the Meritxell sanctuary, the basilica of Andorra's patron saint rebuilt by Ricardo Bofill. Eat in Canillo or Encamp, and if you have energy left, in the afternoon there's the bridge jump.

DAY 3 · ORDINO AND LA MASSANA, OR NATURLAND

Day 3: the Ordino and La Massana valley, or Naturland

Two endings. To the north, the village of Ordino, the Iron Route and, in summer, the Tristaina solar viewpoint; in La Massana, a horseback ride. To the south, Naturland, in Sant Julià de Lòria, and on the way, a cheese tasting in Santa Coloma. Finish with dinner at a borda.
