Share

The Encamp Major Festival 2026 takes place from Friday, August 14 to Sunday, August 16 with a program that combines live concerts, free family activities, and the most deeply rooted traditions of the parish. It is the most important celebration of Encamp, organized by the Comú d'Encamp and the Festivities Commission, and revolves around two festivities: Santa Maria (August 15) and Sant Roc (August 16), patron saint of Encamp. In this guide, you will find the verified program, venues, confirmed concerts, and everything you need to enjoy it.

When is the Encamp Major Festival 2026?

The Encamp Major Festival 2026 takes place from August 14 to 16, 2026 (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). The main events take place in Plaça dels Arínsols, Parc de l'Ossa, and Plaça de Sant Miquel, in the center of Encamp village.

The festivities that give the festival its name are two: the Assumption of the Virgin (August 15, locally known as Mare de Déu) and Sant Roc (August 16), patron saint of Encamp. For generations, both celebrations have merged into a single major festival that brings together the inhabitants of the parish and visitors in an atmosphere of open coexistence.

Program of the Encamp Major Festival 2026

The program has been jointly prepared by the Festivities Commission and the Department of Culture of the Comú d'Encamp. According to the Minister of Culture, Childhood and Youth, Joan Sans, "it is the most traditional festival of the parish" and has been designed to offer activities for all audiences during the three days.

Friday, August 14 — Festive Opening

The festival kicks off on Friday with a cercavila (street procession) by Band The Marxa, a brass band with fifteen years of experience known for its energy and eclectic repertoire. The cercavila parades through the streets of the village and is the event that officially inaugurates the three days of celebration.

The night continues with the Sopar del Jovent (Youth Dinner) in Plaça dels Arínsols: a collective feast that requires prior registration and payment at the Encamp Tourist Office. After dinner, DJ sets by Richy Vuelcom and Óscar Vega keep the party going in the square until dawn.

Saturday, August 15 — The Grand Day (Santa Maria)

The Saturday is the most complete day of the program. It starts in the morning with the fishing contest in Estany d'Engolasters, one of the most anticipated traditions of the Major Festival (requires prior registration). Meanwhile, in Parc de l'Ossa, children can enjoy inflatables throughout the day.

At noon, the Church of Santa Eulàlia hosts the solemn mass of the Mare de Déu, usually presided over by the parish priest and attended by communal authorities. It is one of the central religious acts of the festival.

In the afternoon: the Surprise Rally in Plaça dels Arínsols, the Foam Party in Parc de l'Ossa, and the beach volleyball tournament at Piscina de la Mola (registrations at the entrance). These are the most lively moments for families with children.

The day culminates with two live musical performances:

  • Soulstorm: cover band, main stage of Plaça dels Arínsols.
  • Els 40 On Tour with Laia Partida and Adrià Ortega: the musical closing of Saturday night.

Sunday, August 16 — Sant Roc's Day

Sunday is the patron saint's day. The event that opens the day is the Homage to the Elderly, at 10:30 a.m. in the Party Hall: the main novelty of the Festa Major 2026.

At 4:00 p.m.: water inflatables and Foam Party in Parc de l'Ossa. The closing of this edition arrives with the 'vespreig' (musical afternoon) by Mari Baz DJ in Plaça de Sant Miquel: a relaxed gathering that brings the three days of festivities to an end.

Traditions you can't miss

The Festa Major d'Encamp is not just a summer festival. It has a structure of traditions that repeats and renews every year, giving meaning to the three days of celebration.

Mass of the Mother of God (Saturday 15): solemn mass celebrated in the Church of Santa Eulàlia coinciding with the Feast of the Assumption. It is one of the most reflective and communally participative moments of the festival.

Mass of Saint Roch (Sunday 16): the religious celebration of Encamp's patron saint, also in Santa Eulàlia. Saint Roch is venerated as a protector against epidemics, and his connection with Encamp is historical.

Bell ringing: traditional call in Plaça de Sant Miquel marking the solemn start of Saturday's events.

Fishing contest at Estany d'Engolasters: one of the most unique traditions of the Festa Major. Lake Engolasters, about 6 km from the center of Encamp, hosts participants and spectators each year for a day of camaraderie. Registration is prior and mandatory.

Tribute to the Elderly: new for 2026: until this year, the tribute only recognized the two oldest residents of the parish. In 2026, the Comú has extended the event to all residents of Encamp over 85 years old, with the aim that from 2027 onwards, the recognition will be directed each year to those who turn 80. The Councilor for the Elderly, Sílvia Ramond, explains that "the setting of the Festa Major is also a time to reunite, share, and recognize the people who have contributed to Encamp's growth." The event will take place on Sunday the 16th at 10:30 a.m. in the Events Hall.

Youth Dinner: the collective dinner for the parish's youth, on Friday 14 evening in Plaça dels Arínsols. Requires prior registration at the Encamp Tourist Office.
