Caldea: the benchmark thermal spa in Andorra

Caldea has been, since 1994, the largest thermal complex in Southern Europe and one of the most recognizable spaces in Andorra. It is located at Parc de la Mola, 10, in Escaldes-Engordany, a few minutes from the center of Andorra la Vella. Its water comes from natural thermal springs in the parish itself, which emerge at over 65°C and are regulated to 32-34°C in the lagoons.

The offer is divided into three distinct areas:

• Classic (Thermoludic) — from 5 years old. The main area, accessible to families, couples, and groups. It includes an indoor lagoon with hydromassage cups, an outdoor lagoon, a panoramic lagoon over the Gran Valira river, Indo-Roman baths, hammam, and Icelandic bath. In summer, the outdoor lake extends its opening hours for daytime enjoyment.

• Likids — from 3 to 8 years old. A 400 m² children's spa with a thermal lagoon 40 cm deep, activities guided by instructors, and adapted areas. It is only available when combined with a Classic, Inúu, or Premium ticket.

• Inúu / Premium — from 16 years old. Exclusive adults-only area with its own indoor and outdoor lagoons (32-33°C), outdoor jacuzzi for 12 people with views, sauna, hammam, treatment area, and restaurant. It is the most tranquil environment in the complex.

Muntanya Thermal Pool: Andorra's only outdoor thermal pool

It is the only outdoor pool in the Principality fed by natural thermal water. The water comes from the same Escaldes-Engordany springs that supply Caldea —the Roc del Metge spring, which emerges at over 70°C— and is regulated to 27-28°C for bathing.

It is located on Camí de Coll de Caldes, about 200 meters from the Hotel Spa Termes Carlemany, and is publicly accessible without needing to stay at the hotel. Bus lines L1, L4, BN1, BN2, and BN3 serve the area (Parnal stop, a 2-minute walk).

2026 Season: every day from June 13 to August 30, from 10 am to 8 pm. Closes on rainy days.

Escaldes-Engordany Communal Pools: the neighborhood's option

The communal sports complex of Escaldes-Engordany features a 25x12.5 meter indoor pool and a small 8x6 meter pool with a depth of 0.80 meters. It is located at Avinguda Copríncep de Gaulle, 10. It is the simplest and most accessible option for those who just want to swim.

Pools in Andorra la Vella: sport and summer in the capital

The largest sports facility in the parish, on the Comella road (km 1). It combines the 50x21 meter indoor Olympic pool —a benchmark for training in the country— with a learning pool and a seasonal outdoor leisure pool.

Outdoor pool: open from June 20 to August 31, from 11 am to 7 pm.

Indoor pool: Monday to Friday from 6 am to 9 pm; Saturdays from 9 am to 2 pm and from 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm; Sundays and holidays from 9 am to 2 pm.

Palau de Gel: indoor pool with SPLASH! all year round

The Palau de Gel in Canillo offers the country's most active option in terms of water fun. In addition to the main 25-meter indoor pool, it features SPLASH!: three slides located 7 meters high with a 53-meter run that ends directly in the water.

To access SPLASH!, a minimum height of 1.20 m and swimming ability are required. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. The activity lasts 1 hour; it is necessary to book in advance and arrive with enough time to change.

For the little ones (3-12 years), the small pool has adapted slides in a specific area.

Lakes of Canillo: natural swimming in Vall d'Incles and beyond

Canillo boasts some of the most spectacular mountain swimming spots in the country:

Juclar Lake. The largest lake in Andorra, with 21 hectares of crystal-clear water in Vall d'Incles. Private vehicle access is restricted in summer: the Busnet electric minibus reaches the starting point in 10 minutes. From there, the hike to the lake takes approximately 3h30 (one way). Swimming is allowed. Nearby there is a refuge with catering service during the summer months.

Estanys de la Vall del Riu. Access from the Ransol valley. The hike from the starting point takes approximately 1h30. A peaceful environment, ideal for those who want to combine hiking and swimming without significant elevation changes.

La Mola Outdoor Pool: the village's summer plan

La Mola pool is the go-to summer option in the heart of Encamp. It opens annually around June 21st. In 2025, the Bibliopiscina was held there, with storytelling sessions on Wednesdays in July at 11 AM and a basket of books available for all swimmers.

Tristaina Lakes: Andorra's most photogenic swimming spot

The three Tristaina lakes are the best known in the Principality and one of the most popular hiking destinations in Ordino, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 2020. They are located in the vicinity of the Ordino Arcalís ski resort.

In summer, car access to Coma del Forat is restricted. The most common way to access it is by cable car from Ordino Arcalís. From there, the first lake (Lago Primer, the smallest with the bluest waters) is about a 30-40 minute walk away. The complete circular route is 4.4 km, with ~200 m of accumulated elevation gain, and can be completed in about 3 hours.

Swimming is allowed in all three lakes. The maximum altitude is 2,330 meters above sea level: bring warm clothing for the descent, even if it's hot during the hike.

AnyósPark, in Anyós (La Massana), is the highest-level complex in the parish. For municipal and thermal pools: weekdays and morning hours are when there is less crowding. August weekends are the busiest times at Caldea and Piscina Termal Muntanya.
